Local Law 152 has been in enforcement as of 2020. This law was approved in 2016 by the mayor of new york city. This law requires New york city buildings gas systems to be inaepcted every 4 years.
This includes properties rated 3 familys about above to be inspected. All commercial properties, mixed use,and even empty lots must be inspected.

Regardless if your building has gas or not you still have to comply with submitting paperwork to NYC DOBregarding LL152.
If you have gas in your building and the property is a 3 family building or larger an inspection has to be conducted by a certified and qualified person whom is employed by a Master Plumber in NYC or is the Licensee themselves.
The inspection is conducted using a gas detector device approved by NYC DOB.
All common areas need to be made avaiable including but not limited to boiler rooms, mechanical rooms, storage rooms, gas meter rooms etc. A report will be generated and given to the owner/management.

Each property falls under a community distrit number.

BUILDINGS IN COMMUNITY DISTRICTS
January 1, 2020 – December 31, 2020
Districts: 1, 3 and 10 in all boroughs
January 1, 2021 – December 31, 2021
Districts: 2, 5, 7, 13, and 18 in all boroughs
January 1, 2022 – December 31, 2022
Districts: 4, 6, 8, 9, and 16 in all boroughs
January 1, 2023 – December 31, 2023
Districts: 11, 12, 14, 15, and 17 in all boroughs
Extensions:
NOTE: The deadline for buildings in Community Districts 2, 5, 7, 13, and 18 in all boroughs has been extended! These buildings are not required to submit Gas Piping System Periodic Inspection Certifications until June 30, 2022
